About Us

Eileen Moon, Founder
Eileen Moon
, Associate Principal Cello at the New York Philharmonic and a resident of Warwick, supports a few causes very dear to her heart for which she has helped to develop, produce and present as charitable events. Her passionate love for animals, combined with a deep respect and friendship with local professionals and artists, has been the driving force in the formation of a new auxiliary group, Friends of the Warwick Valley Humane Society. "Our mission is to raise funds and awareness through education and performance, on behalf of the animals and the incredible staff and volunteers at WVHS, who work tirelessly for our community." Friends of the Warwick Valley Humane Society is currently inviting all interested potential 'Friends' to consider membership. Call 845-588-5200 or email info@alwaysforanimals.org for more information.

Eileen's partnership with Dr. Pam Shultz, DVM of Orchard Grove Animal Hospital, was created after a life-altering acupuncture and Reiki treatment on one of her dogs. They are passionately committed to realizing the humane society's ultimate dream--owning property and building a true haven for the larger community's injured, lost and neglected animals. Suzyn Barron, President of the Warwick Valley Humane Society, is a dedicated and enthusiastic advocate with tremendous resources and staff working around the clock.

Dr. Pam Shultz, DVM, Co-Founder
Dr. Pam Shultz is a 2004 graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine and has been a Warwick, NY resident since 2007. She is currently practicing holistic, conventional and integrative veterinary medicine out of Orchard Grove Animal Hospital in Warwick. It was there that she met Friends of Warwick Humane Society founder, Eileen Moon, who was seeking acupuncture treatment for one of her dogs, Tyler. The two quickly realized that they shared a passion for helping homeless animals, each in her own way. Dr. Shultz became involved with Warwick Humane in 2009 when she started her veterinary acupuncture training with the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. It was a perfect match! Suzyn Barron, President of Warwick Valley Humane Society, supports an integrative approach to animal wellness and was happy to offer additional modalities to help the shelter residents combat the physical and emotional challenges of homelessness. In return, Dr. Shultz benefited from the ideal complement to her studies - real life experience with the best possible teachers – the animals. Almost inevitably Eileen, Pam and Suzyn met to discuss how a Philharmonic cellist, a holistic veterinarian and a Humane Society President could collaborate to further help their local community through support of Warwick Humane. And in the Spring of 2012, amidst a throng of bottle baby kittens, and orphaned baby birds, Friends of the Warwick Valley Humane Society was born. A very heartfelt thank you goes to Michelle, Lee, Gabe, Walter, Phil and Burt for contributing their input and talents to Friends.
